The Bay Bridge replacement span is being re-evaluated and may be redesigned.

Concerns over rising costs and the potential for construction delays prompted officials to launch a thorough re-evaluation of the replacement span's design. A final decision is expected by the Legislature in the summer of 2005.

There will be no interruption whatsoever in building the "Skyway," roughly 85 percent of the span's overall distance. Virtually all of the work visible to motorists will remain and is compatible with any of the three design options.
